| Our home was built in 1933 for C.W. Richmond, a dentist, and his wife Sara. Dr. Richmond began his dental practice in New Holland in 1927. Upon his death (1975) the bulk of his estate created the Richmond-Pennock Family Scholarship Trust Fund for graduating students at Garden Spot High School and is sought after by those studying dentistry or nursing.
About the Home
The house is a large stone and clapboard country cottage home with random width oak-pegged floors downstairs and random width pine upstairs. Throughout the home all the doors have wrought iron hinges and door latches. Several Dutch doors lead to outside patios or porch areas.
Living Room and Dining Areas
Beamed ceilings highlight the living room and dining room. The living room is dominated by a large stone fireplace that is wonderfully cozy on cool evenings while watching TV, reading, playing games or sharing lively conversation. The large gracious dining room is brightened by a crystal chandelier and crystal wall sconces. Enjoy a hearty country breakfast before you start your day of sight-seeing, antiquing or shopping in beautiful Amish country. The patios off the living and dining rooms can be enjoyed dining al fresco or by just relaxing, reading, conversing or viewing the gardens.
Second Floor Suites
The second floor has four beautiful suites decorated with country cottage charm. There is a secluded covered porch in the rear with rocking chairs. Learn more about our rooms on the View Rooms Page. To learn about our room policies and pricing please click here.
